The show, which premiered earlier this month, follows two secretaries in 1977 who work at the American embassy in Moscow before becoming CIA agents after their husbands die in mysterious circumstances. Emilia Clarke i Haley Lu Richardson protagonist of the series, which also includes Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi i Vic Michaelis.
In the end, it is revealed that the CIA had a mole, which led to Chris (Louis Boyer) and Tom (John Macmillan) deaths. Twila was initially told that her husband, Tom, was the mole, but it was later revealed that it was a mix-up and that Chris was the culprit.
The other twist? Chris worked for the KGB and it’s really alive. creators Susanna Fogel i David Iserson broke the end.

“From some of the early meetings, when we talked to people, they would say, ‘One of these husbands is alive, or both of them.’ We understand that this is inherent in the genre,” Iserson said The Wrap. “We know it’s something that maybe some people would have predicted. However, what I think is a new thing to explore on a TV show, where we have more room to grow, is like, what do you do with that information?”
Iserson and Fogel teased their plan for aa series of three to four seasons.
“If successful, we hope to do several more seasons of this,” Iserson added. “And we have a lot planned for where it’s going.”
Fogel, meanwhile, joked: “14 or 15. We’d like to catch up, so until 2026.”
In a separate interview, the duo teased possible stories.
“So, a lot of things. So they feel like they have the upper hand on Andrei, but he turns them around; we see that shampoo bottle at the end, and we know that maybe they still have one more card to play, like Susanna was saying. So he slips away, but it’s still possible that, you know, all is not lost,” Iserson told TVInsider. “They’re being held at gunpoint and the KGB is stealing these documents from the CIA. So we’re wondering how the KGB is going to use these documents, what they’re going to find out, what they’re going to find out, who’s going to be at risk there, how does this affect all of the Americans’ operations in the Soviet Union and abroad.”

Iserson hinted at more possible ideas, adding: “We still have this very large blackmail operation that Bea has uncovered his location. We understand that it’s incredibly large, and you know the Soviets are able to take advantage of powerful people all over the world and what that means going forward. We learned that Dane has some secrets. He’s going through suicide, emotional and mental ideation as well. A lot of guilt piled up, and Chris is dead, but then he finds out that Chris is alive and (we have to see) how that affects him and how that makes him vulnerable.”
Iserson concluded, “And is she as omniscient as we think she is? And what does it mean that Cheryl’s been working for the Soviets now, and we have this moment with her and Ray, where Ray says he’s going to trust her implicitly going forward, but we know it’s dangerous, that Ray is such a good, noble person, but that her flaw is that she’s now committed to someone we trust, and she’s extremely committed to doing terrible things, and we wonder why, and we we ask why Cheryl became, and what it means and what she might do in the future. And so we have a lot of these things to explore!”
Iserson didn’t rule out exploring the story outside of Moscow, adding, “I don’t want to commit to it one way or the other. I think, I really, really think that Moscow is the foundation of the show. And, yes, there may be more to explore as we expand, but I think it’s still very much a Moscow show.”
