Fierce fighting between Syrian government forces and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has continued in northern Aleppo for the third consecutive day, forcing thousands of residents to flee their homes.
The Syrian Army Operations Command imposed a curfew at 1:30 p.m. (10:30 GMT) on Thursday in the Kurdish-majority neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsood, Ashrafieh and Bani Zaid. Following the announcement, government forces launched what they called “targeted operations” on SDF positions in the area.
The conflict has led to massive displacement. Civilians have evacuated through humanitarian corridors established by the Syrian army, many on foot with what little belongings they can carry, uncertain when they will return to their homes.
