China’s embassy in Otawa has confirmed the death of four dual Canadian-Chinese citizens for drug crimes.
Canada’s Foreign Affairs Ministry said that China implemented four Canadian citizens for drug -related crimes in the early years.
External Affairs Minister Melani Jolie on Wednesday told reporters that he had “strongly condemned” the death and she and former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had sought sluggishness in every case.
Jolly did not give more information about the four Canadians due to his family’s privacy requests.
Canada’s World Working Spokesperson Charlotte McLod said that Otawa will continue to provide commercial assistance to families and “he remains stable against the use of death everywhere”.
Despite the execution of the Western people in China, the four Canadians were also double Chinese citizens – not recognizing Beijing.
The Chinese embassy in Otawa told the Canadian media that the four were given the right test and the proper process of “strictly” law.
“China is a law. Anyone who violates China’s law should be held responsible for the law,” the embassy said in a statement issued by the Globe and Mail newspaper.
“The fact of the crimes committed by the Canadian citizens involved in these cases is clear and the evidence is concrete and sufficient,” the statement said.
Katie Nivibandi, general secretary of the English-speaking department of Amnesty International Canada, said, “Chinese officials should wake Canada awakened by the shocking and inhuman hanging of Canadian citizens.”
According to Canadian Media, about 100 Canadians are currently held in China, many of which are on drug crimes. One of the highest profile cases of Robert Shelenberg was sentenced to 15 years in 2014 in 2014. After the case in January 2019, his sentence was later changed to death penalty.
Meng Wanzhou, the executive of Canada’s Huaway, arrested, as well as the request for US law enforcement in the late 2018, as well as Beijing seized two Canadian people on the same year, and Chinese-Canadian relations have been severely reduced due to allegations of Chinese intervention in the Canadian elections.
