Open X and Mastodon Threads will start experimenting with new ways to produce funds: donating in the app. Organizations on Wednesday revealed is a campaign that introduces the campaigns in the Android and iOS app, get the user to create a monetary donation.
First, the feature will be shown only for people in the Mastodon of the server Nonprofit itself operates, mastodon.social and mastodon.online. The banner will be easily eliminated, Mastodon says, and will be displayed for someone who has an account that has been at least four weeks. The organization promises that it will not get the user to donate, as well.
The campaign can work well for the nonprofit organization on a scale. Wikimedia Foundation, for example, bringing it in majority Funds of individual donor, including which donating pop-up banners occasionally appear on Wikipedia. However, Mastodon has smaller user base: 8.1 million Listed accounts, and less than 1 million user active per month. Still, the banners encourages people who are not actively pursuing to contribute now, because the process is further smoother to be in-app features.
Mastodon says that it will develop a campaign to the web and, if you succeed, it is available for all other Mastodon issues. The latter will allow server servers to receive direct support from their own users, which can help keep operation.
As a load social media platform, dropped, Mastodon faced the challenge when I get the financial support. Not like Meta and X, are supported by advertising, mastodon So far it has been relying on the user donation from the patreon. It has also received donation contributions from funds and bases focusing in years ago.
At 2023Mastodod up € 545K in total donations, up to 65% of the years, but the patrcasted donor is down nearly 23% to 7,400. (Report 2024 has not been out.) The deceit may appear more aggressive fundraising, especially as a competition of meta and newcomers like an introduction to the VC
“We know that collecting money can display the complexity and the question,” Blog MastoDodon said. “We would like to know how well, along with the community. This is not a company collection campaign: this is an effort to secure the future social polite and other independence.”
