Police allege a mother in Tennessee fatally shot three of her family members, including her two young sons, before killing herself.
The Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office was asked to conduct a welfare check on Friday, January 2 at the Waverly Nurse’s Home Heather Thompsonand they found her and three others dead from bullet wounds, according to them WSMV.
The other victims found in the home were identified as their sons, Arius Thompson, 4, and Isaiah Johnson, 13, and their 88-year-old grandmother. Evelyn Johnson.
Sheriff Chris Davis said the police department currently believes Heather killed all three victims before taking her own life, according to WSMV.
according to WKRNall four dead were longtime residents of Humphreys County.
“Here again, small town America. Here again, I know the families. So, let’s do right by them,” Davis said at a news conference after the deaths.
While not much is known about the murders, investigators do not believe the bodies were in the home for long before they were discovered. Davis revealed that Heather was estranged from the father of her children, according to WKRN.
Additionally, investigators found no history of domestic violence or mental health-related calls to the home prior to the incident.
The same day that the bodies were found, the sheriff’s office confirmed the incident in a facebook post. “The Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, is conducting a death investigation on East Little Richland Road in the Waverly area,” the post read. “We will be on scene for an undetermined amount of time. Please avoid the area as it is congested. We do not have any active threats in our area related to this case.”
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is also assisting the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation.
Beah Thompsonwith whom Heather shared her children, created a GoFundMe after his death “to bring my boys home to New Mexico from Tennessee.”
Dad did too Facebook to share the donation page, where he reflected on the tragedy. “As a father it hurt and shattered my soul to hear that my sons, Arius (Ari) and Isaiah have been taken from me and are no longer with us. They were just babies,” he wrote. “Every second of today I wish I could wake up.”
Meanwhile, another GoFundMe the page was created by Heather’s sister, Michelle Dahmous.
“As many of you know, some maybe not my sister took her life and her two precious children. Unfortunately money is tight right now and as you all know funerals are expensive, she also lives in Tennessee and gas is not cheap so I’m asking for help because I can’t do it alone,” she wrote. “I am asking you to please help me lay these beautiful souls to rest. I know money is tight, especially after the holidays for everyone, so anything you can help give is greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance.”
