Golden Globe host Nikki Glaser appreciate it Chelsea Handler he joked Leonardo DiCaprio to the Critics Choice Awards 2026.
“It was nice to be able to watch the Critics Choice Awards and see if he’s in the mood to laugh at himself,” Glaser, 41, said during his Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance on Tuesday, January 6. “And he did. He seems to have a good sense of humor about himself.”
The comedian added: “I come in peace and I’m glad I loved his performance so much One Battle (After Another) and I can really get it right before I go in for the kill.”
Presenter of the talk show Jimmy Kimmel asked him if he helps congratulate the star before getting into the joke.
“It always seems like you’re just setting someone up to get punched in the stomach,” Kimmel noted. Glaser semi-accord.
“I think they fall into it,” he said. “I make sure it’s coming from a real place. I don’t do it unless I really feel it. I wouldn’t say anything if I didn’t feel that way.”
Handler, 50, kicked off the 2025 awards season on Sunday, Jan. 4, with her fourth year hosts the Critics Choice Awards. DiCaprio, 51, could be seen laughing in the crowd as Handler called him out during her monologue.
“Leo is here, thank God,” Handler joked. “Leo almost didn’t make it tonight because he was stuck on a boat in St. Barts. It was like the Titanicbut worse, because Jeff Bezos was there.”
Glaser, meanwhile, is gearing up for her second year hosting the Golden Globes on Sunday, January 11. His monologue last year was a smash, and he’s pushing himself to live up to it this year.
“It’s a little more difficult this year,” Glaser explained during Tuesday’s talk show appearance. “I don’t have movies like night dog this time You had some fun movies last year.”
He added: “I’ve found that this year I’m intimidated because there’s a new caliber of star in the room that I kind of grew up idolizing. It’s like the people that were on my wall as a kid.”
Glaser named DiCaprio and George Clooney — who are both nominated — as two of the stars whose careers he has followed.
It was announced two months after his January 2025 hosting debut that Glaser would be return for a second year.
“Hosting the Golden Globes this year was without a doubt the most fun I’ve ever had in my career,” Glaser said in a statement at the time. “I can’t wait to do it again, and this time in front of The White Lotus team who will finally recognize my talent and introduce me to season four as a Scandinavian Pilates instructor with a dark past.”
President of the Golden Globes Helen Hoehne also issued a statement.
“Nikki Glaser brought a refreshing spark and fearless wit to the Golden Globes stage this year,” he said. “His sharp humor and bold presence set the tone for an unforgettable evening, making the ceremony feel vibrant and above all fun.”
