The nira military says it is nationalizing the mostly company owned by the French land of the most recent development between two countries.
Somaïr was run by French Nuclear Fuels Company Orano, Niger reported many “irresponsible acts”.
Since the seizure of power in 2023, Niers military leaders say that they want to keep more local control over the country, the former colonial power, approaching Russia.
The Niger is the Party of Uranium world and have a highest grade ores in Africa.
“This nationalization will allow for more healthy and more durable management of the company and, because of this, optimal wealth of wealth from mining resources to the Nigeriens,” as the junta of a statement.
Oranohan has never commented.
The company, acting in Niger for decades, owns a 63% stake in Somaï but last year military authorities have taken control of the company’s operations.
According to the Reuters News Agency, Oranohan, owned by the French state, launched legal action against Niger in its actions.
Niger achieved independence from France in the 1960s and the former colonial power managed to secure exclusive access to Niger’s Uranium supply by various agreements.
The analysts say it is seen by most of Niger as a symbol of continuing rule in France country.
However, they also noticed that any uncertainty in the future sector can threaten hundreds of jobs, as well as export earnings.
