Loughborough Lightning beat London Pulse 18-17 in the Netball Super Cup final on Saturday.
London Pulse were looking to defend their title after winning the inaugural tournament last year, but Loughborough Lightning saw them off in the final to set a marker for the season ahead.
The one-day standalone tournament saw all eight Netball Super League teams in action ahead of the start of the regular season.
Eight teams were drawn into two groups for the group stage, during which each team played three shorter games of seven games each.
The two best teams from the two groups advanced to the semi-finals. The Lightning beat NIC Leeds Rhinos 13-9 in the first semi-final, while the Pulse beat LekisNekis Dragons 18-16.
A one-goal win in the final secures the Soft & Gentle Netball Super Cup for the Lightning’s trophy cabinet.
