Mr. Beast is opening up about his personal finances.
The Creator of YouTube and the Internet – real name Jimmy Donaldson — earned an estimated $85 million a year through June 2025, according to Forbeswhile the fortune reports that his company, Beast Industries, is worth $5 billion.
However, despite his business success, Donaldson, 27, said recently Wall Street Journal who personally is not as rich as people think.
“It’s funny talking about my personal finances because nobody ever believes anything I say, because they’re like, ‘You’re a billionaire,'” Donaldson told the channel in a video interview. “I’m like, that’s net worth.”
He continued: “Actually…I’m in negative money right now. I’m borrowing money. That’s how little money I have. Technically, everyone watching this video has more money in their bank account than I do if you subtract the equity value of my company, which doesn’t buy me McDonald’s in the morning, or whatever.”
Donaldson has it said previously who keeps less than a million dollars in his personal bank account and is therefore only a “paper” billionaire.
“I don’t really think about it. I wake up, I just work. I’m so busy working. I don’t really think about my personal bank account, if that makes sense,” he told the WSJ. “I’m laser focused on making the best videos possible and building the biggest business possible.”
In the interview, Donaldson also revealed his biggest personal splurge for me to watch his girlfriend now Thea Booysen28 years old, while studying in the United Kingdom
“I don’t live near a major airport. I have to drive two hours to an airport and then make a layover to make a layover to get places,” he explained. “One time, I said, I, I’m just going to charter a private jet and fly to her. Because I really want to see her, but if I don’t rent PJs, I literally can’t make it work.”
The eight-hour flight cost the YouTuber $150,000.
“I felt so bad, but I just wanted to see my fiancee,” he said.
Donaldson was previously opened about his personal wealth in a June 2025 X post, revealing that he was borrowing money from his mother to pay for his wedding.
“I personally have very little money because I reinvest everything (I think we’ll spend about a quarter of a billion on content this year)” Beast games creator and host wrote. “Ironically, I’m borrowing $ from my mom to pay for my upcoming wedding lol.”
He added: “But of course, on paper the businesses I have are worth a lot.”
By February 2024, Donaldson said time which makes between $600 and $700 million a year, but reinvests much of its earnings into new content.
“Each video makes a couple of million in ad revenue, a couple of million in brand deals,” he said. “I’ve reinvested everything to the point of, you could say, stupidity, just to believe we were going to succeed. And it’s worked out.”
