Former Major League Baseball player John Rocker he claimed that he was no longer allowed to drink in a hotel bar because he was recognized for his social and political views.

Us Weekly has reached out to Rocker for comment.
Rocker, who pitched for the Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers and Tampa Bay Devil Rays from 1998 to 2001, is perhaps best known for his history of racist, homophobic and inflammatory comments.
In 2000, Rocker was suspended for the remainder of spring training and the first 28 games of the season after making a series of racist comments during an interview with Sports Illustrated.
When asked if he would ever play for the New York Yankees or the Mets, Rocker said, “First I would retire. It’s the most hectic, nerve-racking city. Imagine having to take the 7 Train to the ballpark like you’re traveling through Beirut next to a boy with purple hair, next to a boy with AIDS, right next to a boy, next to all four. 20-year-old mother of four children. It’s depressing.
“What I don’t like most about New York are the foreigners,” he continued. “You can walk an entire block in Times Square and not hear anyone speaking English. Asians and Koreans and Vietnamese and Indians and Russians and Spanish and everything up there. How the hell did they get to this country?”
Rocker later apologized, but that didn’t stop him from continuing the troubling trend moving forward.
In 2006, Rocker defended the former teammate Ozzie Guillenthen the manager of the Chicago White Sox, after Guillen called out Chicago Sun-Times sports journalist Jay Mariotti a gay slur.
“This is a free country. If he wants to use a lewd term, he should be able to use a lewd term,” Rocker told the Chicago Tribune. “You can’t use a lewd term in America if you want?”
Rocker appeared on the 29th season of the reality show surviving in 2014, where he also found himself in hot water.
During an argument with the castmate Nicole AndersonRocker said, “If you were a man, I’d break your teeth.”
Rocker often breaks out on social media these days, saying via X October 2025, “There should be an ‘American Citizen Drive’ selection option on Uber. I don’t want to be driven by someone who was riding a camel 12 months ago.”
The former pitcher joined as well the heart of criticism with whom he did not agree Bad Bunny being chosen as the Super Bowl halftime performer.
“Bad Bunny performing at the superbowl is a slap in the face to the American people,” Rocker wrote. via X in September 2025. “There is no reason why such a patriotic event should be tarnished by a transvestite singer who barely speaks English.”
