Minneapolis’ mayor and local elected officials have called on US President Donald Trump’s administration to “get the truth” and promised an impartial investigation into the killing of a city resident by an immigration agent earlier this week.
Friday’s appeal came a day after an independent state investigation agency said it would Cut it out The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) investigation into the 37-year-old shooting Renee Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.

The unusual move raised concerns of bias in the investigation by one of the federal government’s own agents.
“This is not the time to hide from the facts,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said at a news conference. “This is the time to embrace them by making sure we strive for transparency every step of the way.”

Moments after the killing, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin claimed in a statement that Goode was a “violent rioter” who “fired a weapon at her vehicle” in an attempt to “overwhelm” law enforcement.
Hours later, Trump called Goode a “professional agitator” without evidence who “violently, willfully and viciously ran over an ICE officer” and blamed the incident on the “radical left.”
The US president claimed it was “hard to believe” that the agent involved was alive, despite videos showing him walking around the scene after the shooting.
Joining a lengthy White House press conference on Thursday, Vice President JD Vance also offered an incendiary account of the incident, calling it “classic terrorism” and suggesting that Goode had been “brainwashed” by the “radical left.”
He also falsely claimed that the officer who fired was “protected by absolute immunity” from state prosecution because he was a federal law enforcement agent “doing his job”.
New Scrutiny on ICE
The shooting has drawn renewed scrutiny of Trump’s mass deportation campaign, which has seen his administration flood communities across the country with federal agents as it seeks to quickly expand ICE’s ballooning ranks.

“What has descended on Minneapolis and this state is not the American dream,” he said. “That’s not what the American dream is.”
