Miley Cyrus appeared on the fiery red carpet at the Avatar: Fire and Ash world premiere with the boyfriend Max Morando — and the duo sparked speculation that they had taken the next step in their relationship.
Cyrus, 33, stepped up to Morando on the red carpet at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on Monday, December 1 in a shimmering black mermaid gown. Morando, 27, wore a black dress and white shirt for the premiere.
Cyrus’ jewelry choice, however, caused the most stir as she wore what appeared to be a diamond ring on her left ring finger.
The singer and actress joined the visionary director James Cameron and the Avatar distribution — which includes Zoe Saldana i Sigourney Weaver — on the red carpet Monday night because of her own involvement in the film. Cyrus provides vocals for the film’s soundtrack title track, “Dream as One”.
“Honored to support Avatar: Fire and Ash with an original song I wrote Mark Ronson i Andrew Wyatt,” Cyrus wrote in one Instagram publication in October announcing the song. “Having been personally affected by the fire and rebuilt from the ashes, this project has deep meaning for me. Thank you, Jim, for the opportunity to turn this experience into musical medicine. The film’s themes of unity, healing, and love resonate deep in my soul, and to be even a small star in the universe the Avatar family has created is a dream come true.”

Meanwhile, Cyrus and Morando were first linked in late 2021 and have been going strong ever since, though they’ve largely kept their romance out of the spotlight.
Earlier this year, Cyrus joked about the the couple’s age difference of almost six years during an appearance on the “Sorry We’re Cyrus” podcast.
“It’s going to be 27 years old when I turn 33, which I’m really excited for when I turn 27 because it’s been a great year for me,” Cyrus said in June.
“I just hope that as long as I follow in my footsteps, everything will be great,” he continued to joke. “That’s when I started to change my life.”
Cyrus said the couple’s chemistry is due in part to their compatible star signs.
“He’s a Scorpio and so is his grandpa, that’s what makes Maxx so cool because he can sting. Like, (scorpions are) really cool, they think they’re little angels, until they turn around and they get stung,” she said. “I couldn’t be with someone (who) doesn’t itch. They would have been toast.”
Cyrus also talked about hers age difference in a November 2024 interview with Harper’s Bazaar.
“He sees life in a very different way than I do,” she said at the time. “Honestly, he’s raised our Reddit dog. I’m like, ‘Are you sure we’re going to have to do this?’ And he says, “Reddit says blah, blah, blah.”
“He’s a lot like me. We just don’t take life too seriously,” he added of Morando, who is a drummer in the rock band Lily.
In September 2024, a source exclusively said Us Weekly that Morando had not only won over Cyrus’ heart, but also the members of his family, including mother Tish Cyrus.
“(Miley’s mom) Tish (Cyrus) adores her and thinks they complement each other perfectly,” the source said.
“Miley is totally happy with where her life is,” the source added. “She is in love with Maxx and feels so fulfilled with her family and her career.”
