unexpected star Mia Quebedeaux and her baby are safe after a fire destroys their family’s property.
“I start going down (the stairs) and I see the bottom of the stairs is on fire,” Mia, 16, shared in an interview for Unfiltered with Kiran published on Monday, January 26. “My dad opens the laundry room door for us that leads to a second set of stairs on the side of our house, and the flames were already all up there. So black smoke just came out of our house.”
Mia said she lives with her boyfriend, Jessie, and their son at her father’s house in Denham Springs, Louisiana. The TLC reality star said ain’t nobody got time for personal stuff.
“I lost my phone, my dad lost his phone. I lost my keys. My dad lost his wallet, everything,” she said. “We all ran out of the house. My dog ran out, me and the baby, we all ran out of the house safely.”
A GoFundMe page has been launched to support Mia and her family in rebuilding and getting the supplies they need while they find a new place to live.
“A very close family of mine lost everything in a house fire,” the GoFundMe organizer said on the page. “Mia, Jessie, Keith lost their home where Mia and Jessie are raising their 5 month old son. Mia’s father Keith works every day to support his family. Keith is the sole provider for his children. He lost everything in the house fire along with his truck. He has no way to work to support his family. Any vehicles can help you anyway. The family needs so much prayers and help right now.”
Mia remains grateful for the passerby who saw smoke and decided to get her family’s attention.
“She wasn’t even a neighbor. She was just driving right by the stop sign and saw it,” she recalled. “Thank God he came and said something or it could have been a whole different story.”
