“The story is set in motion during the 20 days of my life leading up to the US presidential inauguration,” the first lady said in a statement. “For the first time, global audiences are invited to theaters to witness this pivotal chapter unfold: a private, unfiltered look as I navigate family, business and philanthropy on my extraordinary journey to become First Lady of the United States of America.”
Washington DC is one of 20 cities across the country hosting pre-release events for the fashion film.

Premiere events are scheduled in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and Orange County, California.
The decision to host a premiere screening at the Trump-Kennedy Center comes after the White House confirmed the Kennedy Center board voted to change the name the building that is in honor of the President John F. Kennedy.
“I have just been informed that the highly respected Kennedy Center Board, some of the most successful people in any part of the world, have just voted unanimously to rename the Kennedy Center the Trump-Kennedy Center, because of the incredible work President Trump has done over the past year to save the building,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt wrote. via X on December 18, 2025. “Not only from a rebuilding standpoint, but also financially and reputationally. Congratulations to President Donald J. Trump, and likewise, congratulations to President Kennedy, because this is going to be a truly great team going forward! The building will undoubtedly reach new levels of success and greatness.”

“It is beyond comprehension that this sitting president would attempt to change the name of this great monument dedicated to President Kennedy,” JFK’s niece said. Mary Shriver wrote via Instagram on December 18, 2025. “It’s beyond wild that he thinks adding his name in front of President Kennedy’s is acceptable. It’s not.”
When asked if she understands why some family members are upset, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. —who is part of the president’s cabinet— he told CBS News“Sure. I understand, but I have bigger fish to fry.”
Leaving aside the drama of the building, melania is a new film from Amazon MGM Studios that promises to provide exclusive behind-the-scenes access to the first lady in the critical weeks leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration.
The film provides access to spaces and moments normally closed to cameras, giving viewers a new perspective on the logistical, personal and ceremonial preparations required before an inauguration.
According to Fox News, Amazon and MGM had the highest bid, buying the film license for $40 million, the largest documentary deal in history.
