2nd season of St. Denis Medical it threw the fans for a loop giving Matt and Serena a breakthe growing romance.
During the Monday, November 3 premiere, a brief time jump revealed that Matt (Mekki Leeper) and Serena (Kahyun Kim) were working in different parts of the hospital. Serena asked for the change to help Matt get over his feelings for her, until she realized that Matt was asking for the same thing.
Matt then told Serena he was able to get away from herwhich did not leave her excited. The twist implied that Serena was now more aware of her feelings for Matt than the other way around — a change from their Season 1 dynamic.
“Like a real relationship, you have to get to know each other,” Leeper, 31, exclusively said. Us Weekly. “There’s a stop and start there.”
Leeper scoffed at Matt’s mood. “He doesn’t want to be too desperate and he wants to play great. Sometimes that means you have to take a step back for a season,” he explained. “I like that it’s not a classic comedy-like romance.”
He continued, “They’re both really weird in their own right. If they weren’t dating, they’d just be two interesting characters. I think it’s great that we get to be weird together.”
Meanwhile, Kim, 36, hinted it would be more surprises as the season progresses.

“There’s a lot going on in Season 2,” he added. “A lot of ups and downs, so it’s definitely continuing to grow and shape itself into something. It’s very exciting.”
While talking to we, Wendi McLendon-Covey he remembered being shocked to the result “Every table read we were like, ‘Well, what happens now?'” she shared. “We all want it to go a certain way, but it’s definitely going to take some twists and turns that none of us expected.”

Every step of the way, even when they’re good. There’s a lot of places we could have a romance.”
