Mary-Kate Olsen i Ashley Olsen made a rare joint appearance at this year’s Awards Council of Fashion Designers of America.
The 39-year-old twins dressed similarly, both in long black coats as they accepted the award for American Accessories Designer of the Year. It was the latest honor they’ve received for The Row, the quiet luxury label they launched in 2006.
Mary-Kate gave a speech with Ashley by her side, thanking her “amazing clients” who “really give us the opportunity to do what we love – from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”
He also thanked his “friends and family. Without your support, we wouldn’t be here today. Thank you for giving us the love and kindness that allows us to show up to work every day.”

The Olsens make headlines whenever they step out together. They attended in September W magazine and Bloomingdale’s New York Fashion Week event at Manhattan’s elegant Eleven Madison Park. Mary-Kate wore a gray blouse over black trousers, while Ashley wore jeans with an oversized black coat. The minimalists accessorized with colorful scarves that made a stylish nod to their mid-Aughts boho phase.
As children, Mary-Kate and Ashley shared the role of Michelle Tanner in the hit sitcom. Full Housethey later starred in a number of films together, including their last film in 2004 New York Minute. Eventually, they went into fashion, full-time, and retired from the spotlight.

“We were raised to be low-key people,” Mary-Kate said he told iD magazine in 2021. “I think we’re very much perfectionists. We’re hard workers and we’ve always been hard workers.”
She explained, “I think the reason we do fashion is to constantly try to fix our imperfections. And you have next season to do that. But it’s also our job to find all the imperfections out there to make sure we’re constantly pushing and training our eyes and making sure everyone is served. Just evolving and learning.”
Ashley, meanwhile, said that when it comes to designing The Row, season after season, “Our instincts are pretty much the same. But I think what’s great is that we have to support each other.”

“Being in the spotlight as young children really seems to have affected how Mary-Kate and Ashley live their adult lives,” said a friend of the duo. wewhile a former nightlife promoter noted: “For child stars, they’ve come off (of everything) pretty well. It could have been a lot worse.”
A source said we at the time that Mary-Kate and Ashley are “very low-key and kind of boring these days. They’ve quit smoking and stopped going out for a while. Ashley also had a baby, so their priorities are different; nobody sees them as much as they used to.”
As another insider put it: “These are people who would rather go through the line sheets on The Row than go out on the town. And they’re extremely cautious about who they let in and what they divulge in public.”
