With Netflix streaming Mark-Paul Gosselaar i Shanola Hampton‘s foundthere is a resurgence of fans looking for a toxic on-screen romance between her character Sir and Gabi.
foundwhich premiered in 2023, followed public relations specialist and crisis manager Gabi Mosely (Hampton) and her team of associates as they worked to find missing people who had been ignored or forgotten by law enforcement.
While Found focused primarily on the cases themselves, it also focused on Gabi and Sir’s relationship. The NBC series introduced its dynamic with Gabi kidnapping Sir in the current timeline – as viewers learned through flashbacks that Sir kidnapped Gabi as a teenager.
NBC canceled the show in 2025 after two seasons, before viewers got a concrete answer about Sir and Gabi’s future. Fortunately, Gosselaar and Hampton weighed in on their hopes for the fictional romance before the show’s conclusion:
Shanola Hampton saw the intrigue between Sir and Gabi on ‘Found’
“The truth is, I can see (the intrigue) because there’s a chemistry,” Hampton explained to Us Weekly in April 2025. “We’re used to a man and a woman having chemistry, and then it automatically means a relationship. So what happened was that Mark-Paul and I went out in Season 1 without planning. We had this chemistry and no one knew what box (they’ve checked (because we need boxes to put everything in).
He continued, “People don’t really know what to do with their emotions… I think that’s what makes the show so special. That’s why people need to see more to see where their relationship goes.”
Mark-Paul Gosselaar broke his focus on the screen
“Well (our chemistry), it’s not something we ever work on, it’s just happened organically. It’s always been that way,” he told Us in March 2025, adding that he and Hampton “just lucked out” as co-stars. “Sometimes you don’t have to like the person in real life for there to be chemistry on screen. That’s not the case for us. We really enjoy each other’s company and I consider (Shanola) a really good friend. So that just bleeds through the lines there.”

“Like you said, it’s written that way. So when I say those lines, I just have to understand Sir’s deep affection for Gabi, and his love for her,” he explained. “It’s just that when he sees her, she lights him up. She’s just a part that he needs and wants. It helps that Shanola is a really good person and a really good actor.”
Gosselaar concluded, “But as actors, we should be able to have that chemistry with anybody. Maybe when you actually see us together off set, (you see) we have a lot of fun and maybe people mistake that for (our on-screen characters). It just bleeds on screen. But I think Shanola is a good enough actor with almost anybody that he can find that chemistry.”

Shanola Hampton on “Don’t Re-Dial” Chemistry
“We wouldn’t label anything. It happened organically. It evolves organically,” Hampton said exclusively. we. “Everything we do, I don’t rehearse. We don’t rehearse scenes together. What you see is what you get.”
Hampton pointed out that there are something that “just works” between she and Gosselaar as actors, adding, “If we made a conscious effort to bring that back (during filming), it would look forced. You have to let these characters breathe. You let us breathe as actors, and you get what you get.”

“Those of you who ship Mr. and Gabi, ladies (you should want) better for yourselves,” he joked in April 2025. “Serial kidnappers are not the standard. Gabi can do better.”
