The assumption has occurred if Trump-Putin Summit will result in Ukrainian map forcibly – and standard – changed.

Russia settled several parts of Ukraine since 2014, when President Vladimir Putin made his first step.

At the time, in a short months, Moscow brought relatively blood work and annex the peninsula in the crimean.

But followed by a Russian-backed movement in the Eastern Donbas Region – specifically two regions, or “oblast”, known as Donetsk and Lihaansk.

A war that is reunited there for eight years.

Ukraine after 2014 and before starting 2022 full-scale advancement

Ukraine lost about 14,000 soldiers and civilians at this time.

But in February 2022, Putin launched his full-scale invasion. Russian troops reached easily in Kyiv and got several southern swathes, including large chunks of two more oblasts, zaporizizhzhia and kherson.

The war went around and went through before. Russia now controls less territory – from about 27% in the spring of 2022 to 20% now. In the east, Russian forces are developing, but very slow and costly.

Ukraine in 2022 – one month to full-scale invasion

President Voltodymr Zelensky in Ukraine says that an uncondition is required. European allies also insult the fight. The US President Donald Trump says that is what he tried to achieve.

But to run his Alaska summit with Putin, Trump began to speak, rather about territorial transfers. Who sent shockwaves across Kyiv and Europe.

It’s never clear what the Trump land means, or what the swaps look like, given all the territory in question in Ukraine.

Until August 2025, Ukraine territory looks like the following:

Mapa nga nagpakita sa linya sa Ukraine sa 12 Agosto 2025. Ang mga lugar nga kontrolado sa Russia adunay mga kolor nga mga lugar sa gawas sa upat nga mga lugar sa silangan sa upat sa upat ka mga rehiyon sa silangan sa silangan sa mga lugar sa gawas sa silangan sa silangan sa nasud ug Crimea. Russia wants to expand control over Luhansk and Donetsk.

Some reports suggest that Putin asks that Ukraine’s hand in the remaining territory it controlled in both oborts.

But that’s what Kyiv means to quit thousands of Ukrainian soldiers asked to protect – cities that protect Ukrainian territory in the north and west.

For Kyiv, such concessions will be a bitter swallow pill. For Moscow, whose defeat is more dangerous, it appears to be wins.

Zelensky said Tuesday that Ukraine “does not” leave Donbas while Moscow is using the region as a springboard to attack the rest of the country.

In recent days, Russian forces appeared to push progress, and progressed, near the city of Dobropilia. But it’s not clear if it marks an important strategic step or effort to show the trumpet that Moscow has a long hand.

What about Zaporizizhia and Kherson, obtained by 2022?

Here, it is reported, Russia offers to stop it with control and freeze lines.

But will Russia prepare to give anything back?

On Monday, Trump talks carefully about “Ocean-Front Arried” – maybe a reference to some beach, along with the sea of Azov or Black Sea.

But it is all part of Putin’s strategic conditions associated with the land bridge connecting Russia to occupy Crimea.

It’s hard to see Russian leader to agree to give any of them. Like Donetsk and Lahansk, Putin considers these places as part of Russia, and illegally earned them three years ago in four referendums that have been convicted of a sham.

For Ukraine, and Europe, Territorial Swaps – In very early stage of talks – a non-starter.

A discussion about the future boundaries will eventually come, but if the war stops Ukraine’s security guarantee.
