Manchester United is more interested in building a stadium in a soil than in the production of a competitive football team that challenges for a silver dish, claims Paul Merson.
The Ski Sports Pundit reacted to news revealed this week in the intention of the club to leave Old Trafford and move to a new stadium of 100,000 seatscalling a decision “pathetic”.
MAN Utd Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe said the goal is to create a “iconic stadium”, with the focus, with the united 14. in the Premier League – closer to the Southampton’s lower club.
“I have no interest at all, I think it’s pathetic. If I’m a Utd fan, I’d fire,” Merson said.
“Old Trafford is one of the biggest stadiums in the Premier League. I can understand if Chelsea – needs a higher stadium capacity to continue living with big boys.
“When is Manchester United, who has a huge stadium, why should you need a new players for them, they need a team. That’s what I can’t succeed.
“I hear that Sir Jim Ratcliffife will enter England’s power to play here.” Don’t worry about the national team, take care of man United and drawing them in the first six. I’m Flabbergast in what I see. “
United, who have debts over £ 1 billion, has yet to confirm how to finance in the construction of a new stadium.
Ratcliffe earlier this week said Manchester United would run out of money to Christmas to not make a series of recent cost reductions.
“It’s fascinating,” Merson continued. “Amazing what happens in that club.
“Old Trafford already has 70,000, they don’t need a new stadium – just needed some of those holes through which you take care of yourself, don’t worry about yourself, not English or anyone else.”
MAN Utd has won only in nine of 28 Premier League Matches this season – a ratio of 32 percent of victory.
This includes five in the last 17 league matches below Ruben Amorim, after replaced the released Eriku Ten Hague as managers, the order in which eight defeats suffered.
“I hope he’s a real man,” Merson added, when asked if Amorim could change the long-term wealth of the club.
“He’s a young, enthusiastic coach who was great in Portugal. He interrupted the dominance of Benfica-Porto. It would be like someone go to hearts or hibs and stops the dominance of the Celtic-Ranger in Scotland.
“He did great, so I hope it will correct it, but he needs players to work in his system. I think a million miles are excluded.
“If someone told me” the first six next season, “I’d say” there’s no way “. They have more interest in building stadiums than to go back to the Champions League.”
