A Wisconsin man was arrested after stabbing his “friend with benefits” 22 times, and police revealed he later texted his daughter to tell her about the murder.
Police from the Milwaukee Police Department made the arrest Mile Dukic on Feb. 5 after officers responded to the apartment he shared with the victim Amanda Varisco in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Dukic, 39, let officers into the apartment, where they found Varisco, 44, “unconscious and not breathing” on the floor, according to a criminal complaint seen by Law and crime. The responding officer attempted to perform CPR on Varisco, although she was already dead by the time they arrived.
Dukic told the officer, “I didn’t mean to do it.”
Varisco’s daughter and her boyfriend tried to enter the apartment before police arrived, according to the criminal complaint. Police said Varisco’s daughter told them she received text messages from Dukic, saying he “killed” her mother.
“It was disrespectful and mean,” Dukic allegedly said in the texts, claiming he was talking to another “friend” on the phone. Dukic also alleged that Varisco told her to “(shut) the shit up” while she was on the phone with the other man.
Dukic told Varisco’s daughter, “I think (she’s) dead.”
The daughter was with her boyfriend when she received the text messages on the night of Feb. 5, and the couple immediately called 911 before heading to Varisco’s apartment.
The boyfriend told police that when he tried to get Dukic to open the door, Dukic allegedly refused and said, “I told you she’s gone. I’m not letting you in.”
While speaking with detectives, Dukic said he and Varisco were not in a romantic relationship but sometimes had sex. Dukic added that Varisco was on the phone with another man and wanted to go see him the night of the stabbing. Dukic told police he didn’t want her to leave, which led to an argument between him and Varisco.
As the fight escalated, Dukic punched Varisco “with a closed fist” and knocked him to the ground. She told police he continued to punch her until she “appeared unconscious.” Dukic then said he grabbed a knife and began stabbing her in the chest and torso.
After Varisco died, the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner examined her body and determined that she had been stabbed 22 times in the chest. In addition, defensive wounds were found on his hands and arms.
After speaking with authorities, Dukic was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of bail jumping. He is currently being held in the Milwaukee County Jail.
Dukic appeared in court on Tuesday, February 10 for the recent arrest. It is currently unclear whether he has entered a plea or retained an attorney following his arrest.
The Milwaukee Police Department confirmed this Us Weekly that the incident is being reviewed by the Milwaukee District Attorney’s office.
Police said Dukic had previously been charged with crimes that included stalking, according to Law & Crime. Dukic was released on those charges on the condition that he commit no further crimes. All of these cases are still open.
