Zoharan Mamdani’s strong victory in New York City Mayor Democratic Primary has changed the earthquake in US politics. The victory of the Ugandan-Indian American State Assembly confirms what has been making quietly for many years: a new worker-class who comes from abroad to permanently population, organizing, intense criticism of unity and inequality, is in the democratic party. Focusing on the freezing of Mamdani’s campaigns, universal child care, public transitions and the Green Infrastructure-City-wide multi-caste workers’ alliance. His victory is a corporate influence and a breakdown of local corruption, and is a powerful support of politics shaped by immigrants with serious relations with global conflicts.
This movement is not limited to New York. In the Congress, Ilhan Omar – refugee, former security guard and daughter of Somali immigrants – have helped to define this new left. Joining her is the first Palestine American women to serve in the Rashida Talab, Congress. Talib, Omar and Mamdani represent the politics of size not only by the disparity of the United States, but also by the personal or ancestral experiences of global southern, brown and repressive experiences. They have emerged as public faces of comprehensive tendencies: the politicians who come to the forefront or come from abroad, the rebellious democracy on the left, the rebellious democracy creates the left of the left.
Donald Trump has no version of immigration.
On October 1, the then President Trump addressed the rally in the campaign in Miniaopolis-the city of a large Somali population represented by Illhan Omar. By drawing on the familiar right -thinking trips, Trump warned that immovable and refugee are changing the United States worse. Subtext was clear: It was a dog whistle for Magg voters, especially white working- and middle-class Americans who were blamed for immigration for the country. Thousands of people in Latin America, Africa and Asia are often brutal, brutal deportation – with a rhetorical preview. According to Trump, the immigration in the countries of the country was responsible for misappropriation of crime, financial stability and public benefits. What he did not say that many Somali immigrants in Minapolis had escaped from violence – some of which were booked or damaged by the American foreign policy.
But Trump was at least partly right: migrants and their offspring are changing the political life of the United States – not as they were afraid of.
In fact, a year ago, the first worker’s strike was against the absorbent labor methods of Amazon Mezon on the outside of the miniature’s speech. Mainly led by Somali immigrants, these actions helped catalyze the national labor movement. What started in a warehouse soon spread, other amazon mezon plants and industries.
This makes Mamdani’s Mayor’s primary victory so important. Along with statistics like Omar, it shows a new leadership – based on the experience of the world, is able to translate the grassroots organization to the judge’s demands. In his campaign, focus was on financial respect, tenant rights, child care, climate flexibility and taxation to the rich-all the worker-class life in the real situation of life.
Just take African immigrants, where the roots of Mamdani and Omar are: Now there are approximately 1.5 million sub-Saharan African African immigrants. Many coverage emphasizes that the fact that the fact is often highlighted by a well-educated or commercially successful African migrant people-media and high-class diaspores. But these stories are unclear the reality for many things: low average income, more uncertain tasks, and higher poverty rates than other immigrant groups.
Nevertheless, a new politics is emerging on the basis of this workers-class-the Democratic Party is likely to be shaped from the ground up.
As Africa is a country as a founder of this website, I spent almost a decade of search of how the African democratic politics are being restored despite the pressure of neo -dictatorships, dictatorships and militaryism. The Arab Spring to work in the Arab Spring to the end of Nigeria and the South African fees must be reduced, African activists have strongly criticized the injustice. These movements have also affected global conflicts – obviously the resonance between them and the Black Lives Matter.
Many African immigrants in the United States have attracted this tradition of resistance. Mamdani organized a debt fight with taxi drivers in New York City. Omar has cleared the offices and worked on the assembly route. Both of them have created a political career by listening and organizing.
In this country, these new leaders offer an optimistic option from the Zenophobia and inequality of the Trump-Yoga. They are creating unity across the partition-acclaimed, Muslims and Muslims, Muslims and Muslims, Black American and New African arrival and not in the offspring of the second generation of immigrants, but in the shared struggle.
The political theory, Kori Robin, has recently mentioned on social media that Mamdani is a “happy warrior” in Franklin Roosevelt’s mold: Sharp, Ground and did not be afraid to participate in real debate. It is Muslim and South Asian that its importance is deeper in the city and country, which is transformed by global migration. He basically represents the future of a democratic future – even a conservative or understand.
