President of Belususian Alexander Lukashenko released the incarcerated opposition leader Sergei Tsikhanouski and more than a dozen political transfers of Dolel Trump’s special envoy.
The decision to free Tsikhanouski, who has been imprisoned since challenging Lukashenko for the presidency in 2020, follows a meeting on Saturday between the Belarusian leader and keith Kellogg, Trump’s Special Envoy for Ukraine.
“It is difficult to describe the happiness of my heart,” says Tsikhanouski’s wife, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskayaentered to run for elections instead of his husband after he was imprisoned and helped with major protests against Lukashenko.
“We did not. 1,150 political prisoners remained behind the bars. Everyone should release,” he added to the US and European president.
