Lindsey Vonn then he broke his silence was airlifted off course after an accident just days before the start of the Olympic Games.
“I crashed today in the downhill race in Switzerland and injured my left knee,” shared Vonn. via Instagram on Friday, January 30. “I’m talking about the situation with my doctors and team and will continue to get more tests. This is a very difficult result a week before the Olympics … but if there’s one thing I know how to do, it’s a comeback.”
He continued: “My Olympic dream is not over. Thank you for all the love and support. I will give more information when I have it. Thank you to all the medical staff who helped me today. I am grateful for all the amazing help I have received.”
Vonn sent “her best” to the Norwegian skier Marte Monsenwhich also crashed on Friday’s course. Monsen, 26, was taken off the course on a stretcher after suffering facial injuries.
“It ain’t over till it’s over…” Vonn ended her post.
The three-time Olympic medalist received many wishes in the comments section.

Vonn crashed during her World Cup race in Crans-Montana, Switzerland, just days before her scheduled return to the Olympics after an eight-year absence.
Their first test is supposed to be the women’s downhill on Sunday, February 8. He also plans to compete in the super G and the new combined team event.
After receiving medical attention for about five minutes, Vonn walked down to the finish line of the course, clearly in pain.
Vonn entered the medical tent before being airlifted out.
According to ESPN, Vonn had “an anxious expression and her eyes closed during a long hug with her teammate. Jacqueline Wiles” before being withdrawn from the course.
Conditions were brutal during Friday’s course, with those in France Roman Miradoliwho managed to finish his race without incident, telling reporters: “You can’t see it and there are crashes everywhere.”
Vonn, who last competed at the Olympics in 2018, announced her return to alpine skiing in November 2024, just months after undergoing a partial knee replacement.
Earlier this week, Vonn said she “never thought I would run again.”
“I retired completely, I built an amazing life,” he said today show on Monday, January 26. “That was never part of the plan.”
Vonn credited her team of doctors, surgeons and physical therapists for making her miraculous comeback possible.
“Everyone put a lot of time and equity into this comeback, which was never intended to be a comeback in the first place,” he said. “To be honest, I can’t believe I’m here, but without everyone supporting me, I definitely wouldn’t be here.”
