Las Vegas police arrest a teacher who allegedly touched a child’s genitals


A Las Vegas man who teaches at a charter school has been accused of sexual assault by one of his students. Us Weekly has learned

An arrest report obtained from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirms this Francisco Misajón48, is alleged to have touched a child while teaching at Innovations International Charter School.

Misajon was charged with lewdness with a child under 14 on January 6, a day after he was taken into police custody.

Metro Las Vegas police received a call about a teacher who reportedly touched a student’s groin, according to the arrest report.

When the boy asked him for help with an assignment, Misajon allegedly pulled up a chair next to him and asked the student to sit down. While the boy was sitting, Misajon allegedly grabbed the boy’s genitals. After the sexual assault, the boy ran to the nurse’s office and called his mother to come get him. She reported Misajon after the boy told his mother what happened.

When police tried to talk to Misajon, he refused to talk. She later told police that the student had dropped her paper and that as Misajon bent down to pick it up, she accidentally touched the student’s leg. He also accused the student of lying.

Eventually, however, Misajon allegedly admitted to police that he only wanted to check the boy’s private part to see if he was a “grown man” or “to see if his private part had grown.” He also allegedly told police about another boy in his class who he said touched.

Misajon said this is her first experience teaching in America after being an educator in the Philippines.

He has been placed on administrative leave pending the results of the ongoing investigation.

Misajon remains in jail on $200,000 bail and will appear in court on January 22.

KSNV spoke with the parents who said they were surprised to learn of the teacher’s arrest on the news.

“Are you serious? And they didn’t tell anybody, they didn’t want any parent (to know) what was going on,” one parent told the station Monday afternoon. “That’s not fair to us. We need to know what’s going on at all times. Our kids are here.”

The school’s director of business told the station they could not comment due to the ongoing nature of the criminal investigation, saying only that “we are working with our attorney and LVMPD.”

The executive director of the State Public Schools Authority, Melissa Macedonsaid in a statement to KSNV that the school has been communicating with families through Infinite Campus, a web-based K-12 student information system used by school districts across the country.

He confirmed that Misajon underwent a criminal background check before he was hired.

“While this matter is under investigation, the school has taken immediate steps to protect students and is following established protocols and necessary legal processes,” Mackedon said. “The SPCSA is closely monitoring the situation and working with the school, law enforcement and legal advice to ensure appropriate action is taken.”
