McLaren Tim Principal Andrea Stella discovered one of the key poles of his strategy to avoid controversy in development as the title of the battle between Oscar Piaro and Lando Norris.
Piastri led Norris in McLaren one-two in the Spanish Grand Priqus earlier in June to expand his leadership over his team in the driver’s championship at 10 points.
Significantly, their closest champor, the ruling champion maximum, claimed only one point while completing the 10th, leaving the Red Bull of 49 points from the top of the table that moves to the Canadian Grand nature this weekend.
The Barcelona event provided a double increase in McLaren, because their strong effect was fired that the introduction of the technical directive will limit the flexing of the front wings in the season and bring Likes in the tip to the title advantage.
The moment of Pietulance from Verstappen, as the Dutchman was driving in Mercedes George Russell, and was sentenced to 10 seconds to 10, and then provided McLaren Duo with breathing space.
However, there are advantages and disadvantages, with a sense that the battle quickly becomes a race with two horses, it will probably increase tension in Garage McLaren, with Piastra and Norris looking for a driver’s hand crown.
Speaking after the race in Barcelona, Stella said, “Driver Management of Formula 1 competing for the same team on a fast car and looking for the championship will always be a difficult question.
“But so far we’ve approached it in a way that I think it has enabled both drivers to express their qualities, speed and it has been a relatively good race so far.”
‘Just a minor’ – Stella Judgment on Piastri ‘Cheeks’ Comment
The closest thing on the controversy between McLaren drivers came to qualify when Norris seems to be used by piastre at the beginning of its first flying circle in K3.
Piastri, he obviously surprised that he saw his team in the mirrors who started flying round as he finished his, he said in a team radio that it was “rude.”
Any Irritation Piastra may have relied the fact that he pulled Norris on their second K3 to take a column, and the couple was kidding about the incident at the press conference.
Stella said that the incident has provided a useful opportunity to remind drivers to say exactly what they think about any controversial topic, as much as it may be “a little”.
Italian said, “IT (qualification) was a minor situation. We always talk to our drivers, don’t leave anything in your mind. Anything, throw it out.
“In this case, Oscar’s comment was to point out the situation we haven’t talked before. We didn’t talk about it before and we would not surprise our drivers that we have not discussed it before and we do not want to surprise our drivers.
“So little to take on it, not for drivers. We need to do some more homework and be ready even more for the next races, which will surely be interesting.”
‘Pre-race briefings do not get firmer’
Despite the recognition that he expects a “interesting” period that is ahead of us McLaren, stella insists that they specifically specify the team review not increasingly problematic.
The Spanish Grand Prix was the first opportunity from the opening of the season where the McLaren Duo shared the front line, which accepts Stella recognizes that it would result in additional reminders for its drivers by the rules of conduct.
He said, “Previous informing” (before race) does not become harder.
“Talks are the same that we always have. Apparently two drivers start next to each other and there are 800 meters to the corner, you may need to repeat every detail of the way we go together.
“But so far I can be very grateful Lando and Oscar, which approached this internal competition with a great sense of responsibility – and pretty much glue on the letter that our racing principles and access.”
