Lana Condor reveals if Jordon Hudson and Bill Belichick inspired the role of Elsbeth

In Us Weeklyexclusive clip from the Thursday, December 4th episode of the CBS series, Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) questions Peyton’s (Condor) alibi after a mysterious death.

When I do, it’s an international scandal,” Peyton responds before explaining why the public reacts “so negatively” to her. “People act like it’s the age difference between me and Russ, but I really think they’re miserable lonely losers who hate seeing people who are actually happy.”

According to the official episode description, Elsbeth “It goes from the equipment room to the locker room when a campus killing shakes the college basketball world after an athletic director ends up dead after a heated confrontation with his basketball coach’s 22-year-old girlfriend.”

Although the scripted show has fictional cases, Thursday’s episode seemed to take some inspiration from Hudson and Belichick relationship, which Condor, 28, did not deny.

“A little bit of that (inspired my performance),” he exclusively said we. “Also, I never take anyone’s yum. In this episode, I’m with a very old man, who I love.”

Condor continued, “Love is love, no matter how strange others may perceive it. I was very excited to work with Sam (McMurray) because I think he’s an amazing actor.”

Condor won acclaim for playing Lara Jean in the hit Netflix franchise To all the boys I’ve loved beforebased on Jenny Hanof the book series, and appeared alongside her co-star Noah Centineu in all three films.

Since then, Condor has stayed busy and busy with projects like this one Worth the wait, Valiant One, Ballerina Overdrive and now Elsbeth.

“I felt like it was a fun way to be seen in a little different light,” Condor shared about her guest role on the CBS series. “I’m mainly known for To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, and I wanted to show a different layer.”

Condor was delighted push your limits as an actress

“I was so excited to be on the show, and Carrie and everyone on the show made me feel so welcome,” she recalled. “I look forward to going back, because it was a really sweet experience and they really respected me… I felt like they believed I could do something where my character is so different from anything I’ve ever done. They were very encouraging and that’s hard to find.”

Condor continued: “This team and this team are amazing. Everyone at Elsbeth, they’re good, kind people. To be honest, I think that’s really hard to find in this industry. When I was offered the role, my team called me and said, ‘Hey, all our clients who’ve been on the show have loved it.’ If you tell me there’s good people, I’m there.”

In addition to trying something new, Condor shared the screen with her husband, Anthony De La Torre.

“My husband has to do the show too. He’s in it,” she said we. “That was a big part (of what made this experience even better).”

Elsbeth airs on CBS Thursdays at 10pm ET. New episodes air the next day on Paramount+.
