Kelly Dodd is speaking out following the leaked voicemail drama involving his daughter, Jolie.
“I apologized to Jolie. All I want is Jolie back in my life,” he said Real Housewives of Orange County alum, 50, said in an exclusive statement to Us Weekly on Monday, December 1. “I’ve been trying to bridge the gap and get back at Jolie. I spoke to her this way because it was out of anger and frustration.”
Dodd also expressed regret for calling Jolie, 19, in the voicemail leak. Despite his apology, Dodd claimed that Jolie has not forgiven him.
“Should I have? No. Did I apologize? Yes, I did. But she doesn’t know how to move on, and she’s getting bad advice from bad people and she has a lot of growing up to do,” he alleged that his daughter doesn’t want to move on. “He’s very destructive to my mother and my brother and everyone should be like, ‘You guys should make amends.’ Normal, healthy people do. They try to make amends between families. You don’t want division.”
On Friday, November 29, a video clip surfaced online featuring one voice mail message that Dodd left for Jolie. The recording was allegedly sent to one of Jolie’s friends to relay her mother’s message afterwards his daughter he blocked her “all the way”. It is unclear when the voicemail was originally sent.
“You just opened a Pandora’s box Jolie. I have recordings of you, yelling at your dad for not taking you on vacation, yelling that he didn’t buy you a car,” Dodd said. “Remember those recordings I saved? I have them and I’m going to make them public. Do you understand?”
Dodd continued, “Why would you do this to me after I bought you a car, paid for your college, paid for your health insurance, took you to the doctors, got you all your clothes, I did all of that. Meanwhile, your dad was being a fucking loser and putting these three kids before you. I’ve got them all, so what you’ve done right now, you’re going to look like a fool, are you a fool? To even think you’re going to win.”
After Dodd’s voicemail went viral, the former reality star re-shared two Instagram posts from a Bravo fan account defending his treatment of Jolie amid the voicemail drama.
“This whole Kelly Dodd voicemail thing is a huge joke. Oh please give me a break. You clearly don’t have a teenage daughter if you feel bad for Jolie here,” read the first post shared via Dodd’s Instagram story. “Not to mention a spoiled, entitled brat who uses any parent who benefits her at the moment. She sure isn’t complaining about this fully furnished luxury apartment in Paris and mom’s tuition.”
The post continued: “So who ended up going public??? Mother or daughter?? Yeah. That’s what I thought. She’s not a little girl anymore. She needs a cold, hard reality check. She uses her mother for fifteen years and then blocks her so she can go use her now-abandoned father. Little whore.”
The second post Dodd shared echoed similar sentiments.
“All families fight and make up, no one is spared. I’ve seen Kelly and her love for her daughter is so real, all mothers and daughters fight,” read the second. “No one should judge a father’s love or anger, it’s between her and her daughter. Wish them peace and work on it.”
Dodd joined the cast of RHOC in season 11, which aired in 2016. In 2021, Dodd’s contract was not renewed and she subsequently left the series after season 15.
