Justin Hartleythe success of the series follower is bringing in several new characters after season 3 canceled several members of the main cast.
Kathleen Robertson i Mark Engelhardt they have been cast in recurring roles, according to Deadline. Robertson will play Maxine, who is described as “a successful lawyer at a large firm looking to engage” Reenie (Fiona Rene) in what “Maxine assures her is simply grunt work for an upcoming class action lawsuit.” However, it quickly becomes apparent that “Maxine may have a completely different game to the one she’s playing.”
Engelhardt, meanwhile, will play Emile Lang, who is “a man with his own moral code.” The description of your character referring to the newcomer as “cold, calculating and methodical”.
CBS found success with follower immediately after premiering in February 2024 to record-breaking ratings. Since then, viewers have tuned in week after week to watch fictional survivor Colter (Hartley) travel the country to help solve various missing persons cases.
As Colter has received help, so has the ensemble cast grown up with their respective characterssuch as Teddi Managers (Robin Weigert) and Velma the Hacker Bobby (Eric Grise) and lawyer Reenie. After joining follower in season 1, Weigert’s character was written off in the premiere with his wife, Velma (Abby McEnany), admitting that they needed some distance. Velma then started working with Reenie and Teddi was not spoken to again in Season 2.
“(Teddi’s) going to be there for a while. She’s helping her mom get settled. I was getting in the way you might say and it really wasn’t good,” Velma said at the start of Season 2. “So I came back. Don’t worry I’m busy.”
Concerns about the show’s main characters kept coming when Grise was noticeably absent from all six episodes. His cousin Randy (Chris Lee) was brought in to help Colter (Hartley) before Bobby returned, causing a backlash from viewers who had grown used to seeing Grise on their screens.
Later, news came out that Grise and McEnany would not return —at least for now.
“I think it’s evolving. If I can’t evolve these characters, Randy or Reenie or Bobby, they’re not just people who just pick up the phone and say, ‘Okay, here’s the answer.’ That’s when the show is calling it,” executive producer Elwood Reid exclusively told Us Weekly in May. “The challenge is when you have to learn about them, which I found interesting. That’s the challenge of the show is that it doesn’t fall into a formula.”
Reid noted that they didn’t want Tracker to “fall into complacency.”

“The only rule I really have from the show is that every week Colter is going to come to a new place and there’s going to be a new case. How he gets those answers and what he uses on the team, that’s all something that’s up for grabs,” Reid said. “Getting to know these weird (local) characters is something we’re going to try to do more of as the season goes on. It’s just Colter coming in and interacting with other characters. It’s fun to see Justin flex those muscles with really good guest cast members.”
Before Season 3, Reid defended the decision to shake up season 3.
“Justin has to carry a lot of the show. So I don’t want the other characters on the show to just be a phone friend where whenever he’s in trouble, he just picks up the phone. The challenge in Season 3 has been how can we build a good real story out of it,” Reid said.
Reid pointed out that Reenie and Randy they are still in the picture.
“Reenie takes a lot of the blame (from her Season 2 case) and she’s brought Randy in there to fix it. You can see them in the office. That creates a nice bond between those two. Then we’re going to introduce another character as she tries to expand her law firm a little bit. It’s going to be interesting,” he continued. “It’s just building these story lines. The challenge we set ourselves this season was to kind of build the world of these people.”
Reid added: “It’s about trying to get some lightness (into the show) because sometimes Colter is doing really dark and heavy stuff. It’s life or death.”
