Good morning!
Thousands of Federal Workers Yesterday, the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) directed the agency to retrieve jobs yesterday Probation employee.
The decision marks the latest obstacle for President Donald Trump and Elon Musk Seize federal labor. While many of these workers are celebrating their ability to return to work, the latest one Court ruling It doesn’t mean they must be safe.
California District Court Judge William H. Alsup announced Trump’s decision Thursday Fire test staff Illegal, point out Personnel Management Office (OPM) is a human resources office used for federal employees and does not have the authority to hire and fire workers within other departments. He also had special questions about the way they did it. Last month, OPM sent notifications to all agencies asking them to fire all workers in a probation status, and a termination notice template telling employees that they were fired “based on performance.”
“It’s a fake to avoid statutory requirements,” Alsup said Thursday, adding that it was “a sad day for our government to fire some good employees and said it was based on performance when they knew goodness, it was a lie.”
Staff terminated from Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Home Affairs, Energy, Defense and Treasury must now be resumed. The judge also prohibited OPM from providing additional guidance to employees who should be laissez-free.
However, these newly restored federal trial employees have not yet escaped from the woods. Alsup said that as long as it is done correctly under the law, the effective reduction of the government (also known as RIF) is still legal. “This situation is not whether the government can terminate people. It’s about whether they decide to terminate people, what they have to do.”
The ruling also won’t affect the Trump administration’s deadline this week, requiring all agencies to send the president and OPM to plan more layoffs. This means there are more cuts on the way.
At the same time, however, federal unions across the country are delighted. “AFGE’s order to Judge Alsup immediately restored thousands of trial federal employees who were illegally fired by the deadly federal agencies of the U.S. Public Public and its government, Everett Kelley, a federal union, said U.S. National Government Employees,
“We thank these employees and the important work they have done, and AFGE will continue to fight until all unjust and illegally fired federal employees are given jobs.”
