Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was left in tears as he took the blame for Saturday’s Divisional Round loss to the Denver Broncos.
Allen and the Bills suffered more heartbreak in the playoffs as their season ended with a 33-30 overtime loss, prolonging their torturous Super Bowl quest.
Buffalo has now been defeated in the Divisional Round four times and twice in the AFC Championship Game over the past six seasons, including four losses to the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2025 campaign.
Allen, who lost two fumbles and threw two interceptions, was picked off by Ja’Quan McMillian late in overtime before Will Lutz sealed Denver’s victory with a field goal.

Denver is headed to the AFC Championship Game after Will Lutz’s 24-yard field goal secured a dramatic 33-30 overtime victory over Buffalo.
“It’s extremely difficult,” said an emotional Allen. “I feel like I let my teammates down tonight.”
“Missed opportunities all game. It’s been a long season. I hate how it ended and it’s going to stick with me for a long time.
“You can’t win with five turnovers. I fumbled twice, threw two picks. When you shoot yourself in the foot like that, you don’t deserve to win.”
“Losing like that regardless, losing in the playoffs is no fun. If one or two games go our way, it’s a different story.”
Asked what he said to his teammates in the locker room after the game, Allen admitted he barely spoke. Except he tells them he loves them.
“I love my teammates,” Allen explained. “I’m extremely sorry and disappointed how this ended.”

With Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid’s Chiefs nowhere to be seen in this year’s playoff picture, the Bills were thought to be staring at one of their best chances to reach the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1993 campaign, which marked the last of the franchise’s infamous four Super Bowl losing streaks.
Instead, they would face a rejuvenated New England Patriots team that, led by Drake May, ended Buffalo’s division title streak and won the AFC East for the first time since 2019. Denver, meanwhile, ended Kansas City’s monopoly on the AFC West en route to securing a first-round bye and a first-seeded game.
Buffalo entered the postseason knowing they would likely need three road wins to reach the Super Bowl. Only five teams have won three away games before winning the Lombardy trophy.
They opened their playoff campaign with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars thanks to Allen’s touchdown run with a minute to play during Wild Card weekend, but couldn’t overcome a Denver Broncos team that has been on a late-season surge this season.
