Weezer bassist Scott Shrinerthe wife of Jillian Lauren Shrinerhas filed for divorce less than a year after his attempted murder arrest following a police shooting.
Jillian, 52, filed the paperwork on Tuesday, Dec. 2, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly. He cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split. (TMZ was first to report the news.)

Jillian, an author who has been married to Scott, 60, for 20 years, did not include a date of separation in her filing. The documents also confirmed that she is seeking joint custody of the couple’s two children, 17-year-old Tariku and 13-year-old Jovanni.
Jillian grabbed headlines in April when she was arrested for attempted homicide following a police altercation. An April 9 press release from the Los Angeles Police Department stated that Jillian was arrested after authorities pursued a hit-and-run suspect the previous day.
During the police pursuit, authorities witnessed Jillian at a “neighboring residence armed with a handgun.” The statement detailed: “Officers ordered (Lauren) to drop the gun numerous times. However, she refused. (Lauren) then pointed the gun at officers and an officer-involved shooting ensued.”
Jillian was hit by an officer’s gun at that point before running into the house where a 9mm handgun was recovered, according to LA jail records seen by we at that time. She was released on $1 million bail.
USA Today reported in September that a judge “ruled that Jillian will undergo a two-year mental health diversion program,” as Jillian’s attorney shared. Hilary Potashner at that time.
Potashner also noted via the Sept. 26 outlet, “We appreciate the DA’s careful review of this matter and believe this resolution is fair.”
A month before Jillian’s arrest, she shared via Instagram that she was recovering of cancer treatment. “I’d like to thank the Academy, my amazing hair and makeup team and the lighting designers here at #glendaleadventisthospital,” Jillian wrote on March 4, sharing a pre-op selfie as she lay in a hospital bed. “As if you all haven’t been through enough with the fires on the side! Yes, I get a bit of the C word in everyone. I know a lot of us do.”
The post continued: “I’m here to thank the amazing oncology team here, who got me through a complicated operation without a hitch. I’m always so grateful for every second of the compassionate and excellent medical care I receive in my life.”
Scott spoke about his estranged wife’s arrest less than a week after the incident, telling TMZ the couple was going through a “hard time” amid the circumstances. “We’re fine, look at us,” he told the outlet in April, adding that Jillian was “fine” and thanking one of the outlet’s reporters for asking about her well-being.
Scott and Jillian married in November 2005 and adopted Tariku in 2007 before adopting Jovanni in 2009. Prior to their marriage, Jillian worked as a babysitter for Prince Jefri Bolkiah of Brunei’s royal family, a moment he detailed in his 2010 memoir, Some Girls: My Life in a Harem.
