Jen Pawol makes us sport history by becoming a first female umpire to referee a Gameball baseball in the league (MLB) during regular period.
Pawol, 48, oversaw first basis of Saturday’s game among Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves.
“I know gravity. I know greatness,” he said, as quoted by Mlb.com.
Pawol looked at the pitch of Atlanta, Georgia, with the happy and standing healing.
“It was nice when we took the field, and it seemed like some people started to steer and talking to my name, so it was so good,” he said.
During the game, supporters of principles held signs, including “Pawol who made herstory,” and “time comes for one and all play balls”.
To mark the occasion, after the game Pawol donated the hat she wore to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
Pawol is set to return to the field on Saturday night, if he can be held responsible for the third basis.
All eyes will go before him on Sunday, when he stands behind the house plate, call the balls and attacks, in the last game in three-game series.
Pawol, a native of New Jersey, working for many years as a umpire in the minor league and had more than 1,200 games in his over 30-year career, reported to MBL.
In the stands to support him a bevy of about 30 families and friends, including current players, managers and umpires.
His entry into MBL comes 28 years after NBA allows the first female basketball referee. The National Football League (NFL) was hired the first of this female officer 10 years ago, while the World World Soccer Soccer hired a referee of a woman three years ago.
The National Hockey League has not yet seen a female referee.
