vice president JD Vance believe his wife Usha Vance‘s pregnancy it’s proof that he means business.
“Now some of you remember that in my comments last year, I told you that one of the things I wanted most in the United States of America was more families and more babies,” JD, 41, shared in his speech at the March for Life 2026 rally in Washington, DC on Friday, January 23.
As he received a standing ovation from the crowd, the vice president reminded listeners that he and his wife announced earlier this week that they were expecting their fourth child. The couple already share Ewan, 8, Vivek, 5, and Mirabel, 4.
“It’s going to be our third child so we’ll take any prayers you can get, we certainly need them,” she said. “When I was here last year, I had another piece of advice for this group, and it was very simple: Be happy in your defense. And looking at this crowd today, it looks like you took that suggestion very well because I see happy people. I see grandmothers. I see parents.”
JD continued, “I see cute little kids in awesome green hats. Now, did you all dress up like that so if you get lost, you can find everyone? Okay, that’s a good plan.”
The March for Life is described by organizers as the world’s largest annual anti-abortion and human rights demonstration.
Participants from across the country converge on Washington, DC and march on Capitol Hill to commemorate the 1973 Supreme Court anniversary. Roe v. Wade ruling that legalized abortion in all 50 states.

And I know for me personally, this year, there’s a lot to be thankful for,” JD shared in his speech via Real clear policy. “I am grateful to my own family, my beautiful wife Usha, and that God has again given us the miracle of a new life.”
JD and Usha’s love story began when they were both students at Yale Law School. The couple met when they joined a discussion group on “social decline in white America.”
In an interview with NBC news in 2017, Usha, 40, said that she and JD took all their classes together and were friends long before they started dating.
The couple married in 2014 and held Christian and Hindu ceremonies. (JD later converted to Catholicism in 2019.)
“We want Americans, all Americans from all walks of life, to have happy and healthy children, and we want them to raise those children with the confidence that their children will do well and grow up safe and prosperous,” JD said during his final speech. “That they will have access to good jobs, good schools, safe streets and warm homes to raise their children in.”
