Next to Jason and his wife, On the side of Brittanythey start in 2026 with a special collaboration.
The pair released their first duet entitled “Easier gone” on Friday, January 9.
“You were easier to go / You were easier out of this town / Hey, I almost figured this thing out about letting you go,” the pair sing on the chorus. “Yeah, it was easy to lie / To myself on a Friday night / When I wasn’t face to face with how good you saw yourself moving forward / Yeah, you got away easier.”
The lyrics continue to tell the story of a man who experiences an unexpected confrontation with an ex in a bar. What comes next is the feeling of wishing you’d never seen it in the first place.
“I wish I didn’t know your name / I wish you were just another stranger,” Jason, 48, sings. “So walking through this bar wouldn’t endanger my broken heart / I wish I didn’t know your drink.”
The song appears on his upcoming album, Songs About Uswhich is expected to be released on April 24.
While some fans may be surprised to learn of Brittany’s musical abilities, the Nashville resident previously appeared on Season 11 of American Idol in 2012.
After impressing the judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez i Steven Tyler with its interpretation of “Mimat” by Joss StoneBrittany, who was an NBA dancer at the time, arrived in Hollywood a week before she was eliminated.
She married Jason on a beach in Mexico in March 2015. The couple share children Memphis, 8, and Navy, 6. (Jason is also father to Kelley, 22, and Kendyl, 18, with his ex-wife. Jessica Ussery.)
In the days leading up to the official release of “Easier Gone,” both Jason and Brittany, 37, made a special announcement for music fans.
“I’ve heard a lot of people say they don’t want to wait until April for new music when the album comes out,” Jason said via a Instagram video of Wednesday, January 7. “So how about we drop three new songs for you guys in January?… You’ve been asking for a duet for a while now.”
Shortly after the song’s release, the pair received positive reviews from some familiar voices in country music, including Cole Swindell i Kane Brown.
“Great job you two 💘💘💘💘,” Brittney Kelley wrote to comment section. Anne Bosco added: “LOVE!!!!!!!! 🔥🔥👏👏👏👏 @brittanyaldean @jasonaldean.”
Both Jason and Brittany were shocked by the positive responses. In a separate Instagram story, the pair expressed gratitude for the love they were receiving for the new song.
“We just wanted to jump on here and say thanks for all the love on our new song,” Brittany said in an Instagram story posted Friday.
Jason added: “It’s been a long time and we’ve been talking about doing something for a long time… It’s been waiting for the right song to come along, and we finally found one that we liked and it was amazing. Thanks for checking it out. We hope you like it. Maybe we’ll play it on the road for you guys. We’ll see.”
