The President of Alastane in the Ivory Coast secured a fourth term in an election in which two of his biggest challenges were barred from the provisional results shown.
O safe, 83, won 89.8% of the vote, the Electoral Commission said on Monday, and businessman Jeal-louis billion with a distant 3.09% only.
The landslide victory is not a big surprise, as the ban on the presidential race, former President Gbagnose urged his supporters to vote.
Voter turnout reached 50.1%, according to the Electoral Commission.
Monday’s results are provisional and the final result will be announced by the constitutional council after it has ruled on any election petitions.
On Sunday, the opposition group made up of GBAGASo and Thiam parties denounced the election as a “cowian coup,” saying they would not know Oweattara.
Ouattara first considered the presidency in 2011, following the arrest of GBAGBO following his refusal to accept defeat in the 2010 elections.
Ouattara was originally barred from serving two terms, but a 2016 Ovachaul constitution allowed him to seek re-election in 2020, in a vote hung by the opposition.
