As Stevenson continued to shine, his name became part of the group. This time, five talented fighters that fans want to see compete against each other.
On the night of April 22, 2023, Gervonta Davis stepped into the ring against Ryan “KingRy” Garcia. Davis looked impressive when he stopped Garcia in the seventh round.
Once Davis beat Garcia, fans were worried about Davis fighting another member of the elite team. At first, they wanted Davis to fight Devin Haney, but suddenly, the name of the fifth member of the group started to cry.
After winning the world championship in several weight classes, Shakur Stevenson stepped into the ring, defeated Edwin De Los Santos by unanimous decision, and won the vacant WBC title. It was a low performance, but Stevenson got the job done.
Two years later, Stevenson faced the top cat William Zepeda. Shakur made an impressive performance due to the fact that he was able to stay in the pocket and continue to spread the ball.
Stevenson won by unanimous decision. This past weekend, Shakur moved up to 140, trained Teofimo Lopez, and won The Ring and WBO world titles.
After witnessing what we saw on January 31st, it’s safe to say we’ve officially entered the era of Shakur Stevenson. Shakur is ready and willing to fight any fighter who knows he is a great man.
The fighters want to see a special comparison, and 2026 is the best time for this. The fight between Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) and Gervonta Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) is the best fight in boxing.
Back in July 2025, Shakur Stevenson was a guest on the ‘Way Up With Angela Yee’ podcast. When asked about the importance of Gervonta Davis, Shakur gave a straightforward answer.
“Honestly, I’ve been calling for the fight for about two or three years now. Now I’m ready for the fight. It’s all about Tank. Tank has to say he’s ready.”
In past interviews, Tank Davis has consistently expressed his lack of interest in the Shakur fight. During a press conference for his fight with Lamont Roach, a member of the media asked several questions about Shakur, and Tank answered them.
“What are you, a Shakur person or something? Why do you keep bringing up Shakur? There are fighters out here. I’m fighting Lamont. You keep bringing up Shakur.” Davis said, “I’m going to wake up Shakur.”
Gervonta Davis is a good knockout puncher who is accurate, explosive, and has a lot of knockout power. Shakur Stevenson is a light technician who is also known for being a security expert.
Meanwhile, Gervonta “Tank” Davis has a personal matter to attend to. Once he gets his affairs in order, hopefully, fighters will be able to witness the Shakur vs Tank blockbuster sometime in mid to late 2026.
