Israeli forces kill one man in series of attacks on southern Lebanon | Israel attacked Lebanon

Israel has claimed that its latest attacks on Lebanon were allegedly targeting Hezbollah infrastructure.

Israeli forces have carried out several strikes in southern Lebanon, killing one person, according to Lebanese officials, targeting Hezbollah fighters and infrastructure.

Sunday’s attacks came after the Lebanese army said it had finished Disarming Hezbollah South of the Litani River, the first phase of a nationwide plan, though Israel has called those efforts insufficient.

“A civilian was killed in an Israeli enemy attack on a car in Bint Jebel town in southern Lebanon,” Lebanon’s health ministry said.

The Israeli military said the attack was on a member of Hezbollah, whom it accused of violating a ceasefire agreed to end more than a year of hostilities with the group in late 2024.

“A short while ago, (Israeli forces) killed a Hezbollah terrorist in the Bint Jabeel area, in response to Hezbollah’s continued violations of ceasefire agreements,” the army said in a statement.

Elsewhere, Lebanon’s official National News Agency (NNA) reported that “enemy warplanes carried out more than 10 attacks” on the town of Kfar Hatta, which is north of Litani, causing “significant damage” to buildings there.

The Israeli military had issued an evacuation warning for Kafr Hatta, after saying it was “attacking Hezbollah’s infrastructure in several areas”.

He later announced additional strikes that targeted “an underground site used to store weapons associated with Hezbollah.”

While a cease-fire was signed between Israel and Lebanon in 2024, Israel has repeatedly targeted Lebanon and stationed troops in five southern Lebanon areas necessary for its security.

More than 300 people have been killed in Lebanon in Israeli attacks since the agreement was signed.

The Israeli military has not only targeted Lebanon to attack alleged Hezbollah infrastructure, but also Hamas targets.

Lebanon’s military has said more work will be done to bring weapons held by non-state groups under its control.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office responded to the army’s statement saying the ceasefire “makes clear, Hezbollah must be completely disarmed”.

“Efforts in this direction by the Lebanese government and the Lebanese Armed Forces are an encouraging start, but they are not enough, as evidenced by Hezbollah’s efforts to rearm and rebuild its terrorist infrastructure with Iranian support,” it added.

However, Hezbollah has repeatedly refused to disarm, saying Israel is violating the terms of the ceasefire agreement.
