Iran launches missile attack on US base in Qatar

Iran launched a missile attack on a military base in Qatar on Monday in retaliation for the U.S. bombing of its nuclear site.

Witnesses reported seeing missiles in the sky and subsequent explosions, but it was not clear if there was any damage.

Iran announced on state television that it attacked U.S. troops stationed at Udid Air Base in Qatar. When the title on the screen calls it “Martial Arts Music”, it calls it “America’s aggressiveness.”

The attack happened shortly after Qatar closed the airspace amid Iran’s threatened precautions.

Just before the explosion, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote on social platforms: “We neither initiated war nor sought war. But we will not invade the great Iran without answers.”

In the past, Iran threatened U.S. troops at Udder Air Base, which presided over the front headquarters of the U.S. Military Central Command. Qatar spans Iran’s Persian Gulf, maintains diplomatic relations with Iran, and shares a large-scale field of offshore gas with Tehran.

Earlier in the day, Israel expanded its war with Iran, including targets linked to the country’s struggling theocratic politics, to the gates of the infamous Tehran prison, notoriously possessing political activists and hitting the headquarters of the military forces that suppressed recent protests.

As the smoke above Tehran rose, Israel was attacked by another Iranian missile and drone. The ongoing fires have become a reality for civilians since Israel launched a war to target Tehran’s rapidly advancing nuclear program.

On the 11th day of the conflict, Israel said it attacked “the regime targets and government repression agencies in the center of Tehran”, but Israeli officials insisted that they have not sought to overthrow the Iranian government since the country’s 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Israeli military warned the Iranians that it would continue to attack military sites around Tehran in the “next days” as its focus also shifted to symbolic targets. The military issued a warning on social platform X, although Iranians are working to get into the outside world as the internet shutdown paralyzes the country.

The latest strike came just hours after President Donald Trump publicly raised the possibility, just one day before, plugging the United States into the war, with its unprecedented stealth bomber strikes on three Iranian nuclear fields.

“If the current Iranian regime cannot make Iran great again, why is there no regime change? He asked on his truth social networking site.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt later described Trump as “simplely asking a question.” However, the proposal to overthrow the Iranian government has aroused new anger in Tehran, which insists that it will not be negotiated and threatens to retaliate directly against U.S. troops or interests in the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip.

Tehran opens a new chapter in war

Israel opened a door at the Evan prison during a Tehran strike. Iranian state television shared black and white surveillance footage of the strike on the facility, known for holding dual nationals and Westerners, and is often used by Iran as a bargaining for negotiations with the West.

Evin also has a professional unit of political prisoners run by the paramilitary, all-voluntary Revolutionary Guard, which answers only the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The facility is a target of US and EU sanctions.

Although the semi-official Tasnim news agency said cases outside Tehran were reported after the Israeli strike, Iran had no immediate reports of Iran casualties or major damage.

Iranian state television also played footage, described as being shot dead inside Evin, with prisoners under control inside the facility. However, the Washington-based Abdorrahman Boroumand Human Rights Center expressed concerns about the prisoners there.

“Many families of current detainees expressed deep concern about the safety and status of loved ones held in prison,” it said.

Earlier Monday, Iranian General Abdolrahim Mousavi, joint chief of staff of the armed forces, warned that the Washington strike allowed Iranian forces to “freely” “action on the interests of the United States and their military.”

Thousands of U.S. troops are headquartered in the Middle East, many within the range of short-term Iranian missiles.

The Israeli military also confirmed that it knocked the site down on roads around Iran’s wealthy facilities. The underground site was one of three nuclear facilities on Sunday’s attacks. The Israeli army did not specify it.

“Iranian dictators will be punished with full force for attacking Israel’s own front,” the Israeli Ministry of Defense said.

According to Israeli officials familiar with the government’s strategy, Israel targeted the locations to put pressure on the Iranian government but did not actively seek to overthrow it. The official discussed the internal government review on anonymity.
