IBM to acquire $ 11B as it seeks to offer data


IBM is to buy a data infrastructure company for $11 billion in a bid to disrupt data and automation products as more companies move ABA operations and deploy AI technology.

The tech giant said it would offer $31 for each of its shares, which is about 50% more than the smaller company’s shares on Friday, before news of the deal.

Confluent offers a platform that helps companies manage data in real-time, exploding use cases using AI, which require significant data processing for inforcing.

IBM says it complements its data and automation products, as well as expanding its existing offerings in AI, automation, data, and consulting. The company expects the transaction to be accretive to EBITDA and free cash flow in the two years after the deal closes.
