Hunting Wives Season 2 Has a Shocking On-Screen Death After Book Changes


2nd season of The Hunting Wives is starting in shocking fashion with the death of a surprise character.

Brittany Snowwho plays Sophie, confirmed the turn during an interview with Entertainment tonight on Sunday, Jan. 11, saying, “Someone dies. I won’t tell you who. It’s a wild play. Wild behavior.”

The actress, 39, said she “got up on my couch” after hearing the news.

“Wild. Every script is a new adventure. They said we couldn’t top last year and somehow I think we are,” Snow teased. “I’m surprised. And I even kind of knew what was coming. So I think people are going to be very surprised, I think people are going to be angry.”

He added: “I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing, but people should definitely watch.”

based on May Cobbthe book of the same name, The Hunting Wives introduced we to Sophie, who moved from Boston to an East Texas town where she was drawn to prominent socialite Margo (Malin Åkerman). Prior to its premiere, the show was slated to air on Starz, but Netflix eventually obtained exclusive US licensing rights for a year after Lionsgate Television acquired the rights to The Hunting Wives from Starz. Season 2 of The Hunting Wives “will premiere exclusively as a Netflix-branded series in nearly every country where Netflix is ​​available, with the original cast set to reprise their roles,” according to a press release.

Fans have been waiting for news about a second season since the finale, which premiered in July 2025, made major changes to Cobb’s book. Those who have read the novel know that Jill (Katie Lowes) killed his son Brad’s (George Ferrier) girlfriend after Abby became pregnant and refused an abortion. Jill later killed Margo (named Margot in the book) because she also knew about her friend’s affair with her teenage son.

The eight-part series, however, he took a great departure of the original plot by having Margo as the one who got pregnant with Brad’s baby. Margo had an abortion and eventually killed Abby, which Sophie found out at the end of Season 1. creator Rebecca Cutter previously teased plans for a second season when speaking variety in July 2025, saying there is “a bit of a time jump, not a year, but a time”. He also hinted that “it would be smart” to have a new murder mystery in the next season, adding: “I still don’t know who’s done or who’s done!”

Author Cobb also expressed support for a sequel. “I feel like there’s a lot more story to tell,” Cobb told CBS 19 in July. “It ends on a cliffhanger and also the cast and crew were so wonderful. We all want to get back together and work together again.”
