Franco and Brie’s real-life relationship makes “Together” more compelling
Casting Franco and Brie in the lead roles of together it was more than stunt casting. Their shared history plays beautifully on screen when they step into the roles of Tim and Millie. Even though the couple is going through serious relationship issues, the connection between them still seems real and genuine. In fact, without the horror aspect of this story, together It would work quite well as a drama/romantic comedy.
This movie isn’t played for laughs, but there are dark and funny moments, especially when Tim and Millie get desperate enough to take extreme measures. It’s hard to fake the chemistry that Franco and Brie have on display throughout the film, and it makes the whole experience more believable. The circumstances of their merger may be fictional, but the couple themselves look and act like real people. It’s a refreshing change from the horror genre norm.
The film’s body horror is truly unsettling
Here’s what you need to know together it’s just that their moments of body horror can get pretty disgusting. You should probably avoid eating when watching this movie. The budget for this film has not been officially declared, but it seems Shanks made the most of the very limited funds they had to work with. The simple editing and acting conveys the connection between Tim and Millie when they are away from each other. When they get close and their flesh starts to mingle, that’s when things get dirty.
This premise hasn’t been done to death by other horror films, which is one of the reasons why it stands out. together it doesn’t overdo the scenes where Tim and Millie can’t break physical contact, but it does add variety to them. One scene builds from strong physical desire for one another, while another becomes the ultimate romantic gesture, given the circumstances. But when the couple has to use violent ways to separate, it becomes difficult to guard the spirit.

It shares a similar spirit of going for broke The Substance(Demi Moore). together perhaps more unsettling, as it investigates something we take for granted, the intimacy that comes with relationships, and finds it not only imperfect but terrifying.
The ending of “Together” is off the wall

Alison Brie and Dave Franco in Together
Neon Courtesy Everett CollectionI won’t spoil the ending together here, but I will say that the chosen conclusion takes things in a logical way, while still being an amazing and extraordinary creative choice. The final moments leave some unanswered questions about what would come next, but this was the right way to end the story.
There is an inherent suspension of disbelief that accompanies the idea behind it togetherbut the filmmakers and cast did such a fantastic job that it’s easy to go along. This movie seems destined for cult status among horror movies and maybe even more so if it keeps up its momentum on Hulu.
