After months of Washington calling for military intervention in Venezuela – with the help of much of the US mainstream media – last week the US military kidnapped the country’s president, Nicolás Maduro, and took him to prison in New York City. Now, the Trump administration is moving away from its goal of toppling the “narco-state” to the U.S. by taking control of Venezuela’s vast oil reserves.
