While Savannah, 54, has left New York and traveled to the area to be closer to family, her co-workers, including Craig Melvin, Jenna Bush Hager, Sheinelle Jones i Carson Daly — have continued to work from Studio 1A at Rockefeller Center and shared updates.
“All of this is breaking my heart and I’m glad to be sitting here with you,” Kotb shared during a special guest appearance on Friday’s episode. “I picture Savannah sitting there. I just want to say good morning and everyone is waiting and praying for Nancy to come back safe.”
Kotb praised the “massive show of support” from viewers and the nation as investigators work to bring 84-year-old Nancy home.
“From vigils to people offering positive thoughts online and just a lot of hope,” she noted. “The nation is rallying around our dear friend Savannah and her family, believing that her dear mother Nancy will soon return to her loving arms. We are all so close to her, we all want to help her. I’m looking at us and thinking, ‘Who was first at the hospital when (my daughter) Hope was sick.’ (died) Savannah, who was sitting (Sheinelle’s late husband) Ouch (sheepon the side of )? According to the Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, Nancy traveled to a family dinner via an Uber around 5:32 p.m. local time on January 31 and her family dropped her off at home at 9:48 p.m. Authorities were able to confirm that the garage door was closed at 9:50 p.m.
At 1:57 am on February 1, Nancy’s doorbell camera went offline. Later, at 2:12 am, the software detected something on the camera, but the images are not available. In a press conference, Nanos said the movement could have been an animal.
As of Friday, police had not yet named a suspect or person of interest.
Although Savannah was initially set to host the 2026 Winter Olympics ceremony, she retired from his duties after the disappearance of his mother. Maria Carrillo later took his place and joined Terry Gannon for the special event.

Savannah’s brother, Cameron Guthriewas the last member of the family to address the public about Nancy’s disappearance. In an Instagram video posted on Thursday, February 6, Camron he begged for his mother to return to safety.
“Whoever has our mom, we want to hear from you. We haven’t heard anything directly,” he shared. “We need you to contact us and we need a way to communicate with you so we can move forward. But first, we need to know if you have our mother. We want to talk to you and we are waiting for contact.”
