Hilary Duff he doesn’t hold back in his new music.
Duff, 38, previewed her new single, “Roommates,” via social networks on Friday, January 9.
“I want the highlights, 10 out of 10 / Butterflies holding your hand,” he sings. “Before we’d sweep under the bed / We practically became roommates.”
She adds, “I’ve been knocking on the front door / because you are I don’t even know my way around no more.”
Duff announced Friday that “Roommates” will be available to stream starting Thursday, Jan. 15 at 7 p.m. ET. It’s probably one of the songs on his next album, Luck… or something.
“I’m often asked how I still keep my head up after growing up in this industry,” Duff said in a November 2025 press release. announcing the new LP. “The album title is my way of answering that question. It’s luck, but there’s also a lot of weight in the ‘… or something.’ A lot of the things I’ve experienced along the way are still there, and I feel like ultimately that’s what shaped me.”
Luck… or something will be Duff’s first new album in 10 years since 2015 breathe breathe The album’s debut single, “Mature”, was released in November 2025.
“It’s definitely a brief experience I had in my (life), a long, long time ago,” Duff he said Vogue at that timeimplying that “Mature” was about one of her previous relationships. “It’s not entirely autobiographical. I took a few artistic liberties just to make the song work structurally, but the essence is the essence.”
She added: “I was looking back on that relationship and wondering if this guy had a habit of dating younger women or if I was ‘special’. The whole experience was very therapeutic to write, but being so vulnerable through your music can be scary.”
Duff wrote “Mature” and most of the album alongside her husband, Matthew But.
“‘Mature’ is a conversation with my younger self about being happy with where I landed,” she reminded the network. “Part of it was an idea that originated with Matt, and part of it came from thinking about this idea of not recognizing younger versions of yourself when you’re in your 30s. Matt obviously knows all the stories from my past, and he’s great at coming up with a concept where I can come in and design the whole interior.”
Duff has been married to Winnetka Bowling League musician Koma, 38, since 2019. They share three daughters, while Duff is also mother to son Luca from a previous marriage.
“My favorite part of this day is how the people in your life get a chance to give you your flowers and tell you how crazy you mean to us,” Koma. subtitled a September 2025 birthday tribute to his wife. “Make everyone feel like the center of your universe. Your friends, your kids, your family. I don’t know how you are physically or mentally able to be so present, give so much and still have time for mahjong, but we are all the luckier to receive your love (and calendar coordination).”
He concluded: “Doing real life with you is my happy place, and it makes everything outside of it seem simultaneously close and unimportant at the same time. Working on your album with you this year, on your terms, framed as it works for you, has been the best, and I can’t wait for the world to hear what it sounds like when you get to speak directly to your people.”
