After finally getting Reba McEntire i Rex Lynnthe characters together Happy’s placethe show broke the characters for his secret about sister Isabella.
During the Friday, January 30 episode of the hit NBC comedy, Bobbie (McEntire) was about to tell Emmett (Linn) that she loved him, a relationship milestone, when Isabella (Belissa Escobedo) discovered that Emmett knew of his existence and said nothing for years.
“I don’t know if Isabella necessarily wanted them to break up. I think that’s something that Bobbie came to on her own,” Escobedo, 27, said exclusively. Us Weekly about Bobbie’s decision to call it quits with her new boyfriend. “That was for reasons of my own.”
Escobedo speculated what led to the decisionadding, “She was probably the one who didn’t want to talk about the hard stuff. Because it would be a hard conversation to have, a really hard one. Sometimes you just don’t want to have it.”
She continued, “And you’re like, ‘We just don’t do the hard part.’ But I think Isabella always says, ‘Let’s do the hard part.’ Because she wants that connection. So I think Isabella was kind of sad to see them split. She wanted them to heal and she would love to be the person to facilitate that.”
Earlier in the season, Emmett revealed to Steve (Pablo Castelblanco) that Happy previously told her about his secret daughter, Isabella, which he never told Bobbie. The secret hung over the characters for a handful of episodes before it was finally addressed.
“We were all shocked when we found out. It’s very sad when you think about it. This was the first father figure that Isabella had in her life that we know of. That it was also someone who lied to her, who knew her and didn’t look for her, it’s like heartbreak all over again,” Escobedo said. we. “It’s definitely sad to look back on the other times. Emmett was the first person to feel accepted when he came and now we know it’s because he knew about her.”

Escobedo said she was “excited” to finally see him everyone’s reaction to the revelation.
“It’s going to be crazy,” he teased. “For Isabella it doesn’t explode as much as you might expect. I think the focus is Bobbie, and that’s the focus for Isabella as well.”
Despite the on-screen breakup, Escobedo teased a possible reconciliation, adding: “Isabella will always be looking for that because I think Bobbie’s happiness will always be at the forefront for her. If that means going out, pushing Bobbie on a date and pushing Emmett in her direction. Because that’s how she got together, so she did it again.”
The rest of the season will also continue to focus on Bobbie and Isabella’s bond as sisters.
“It’s just that a lot of them are there for each other at different times. We see a lot of Isabella stepping up to be there for Bobbie,” she shared. “Then we see Bobbie step up to be there for Isabella. It’s more of that, less of butting heads and more of sisterhood.”
Escobedo concluded, “The writers focused a lot more on Isabella’s growth as an entrepreneur. So we see a lot of her come into that role. This season is more Bobbie handling her emotions and Gabby (Melissa Peterman). Meanwhile, Isabella has taken on the role of keeping the bar together.”
Happy’s place airs on NBC Fridays at 8:00 PM ET before airing the next day on Peacock.
