Hajar Abdelkader: Wildcard served 20 double faults and lost the match in 37 minutes


The Egyptian Tennis Federation confirmed to the BBC that Abdelkader is not yet registered as an Egyptian player and has not yet entered a tournament for Egypt.

The technical director of the Egyptian Tennis Federation Dia Nabil Loutfy said: “We want to make it clear that he is not registered with the Egyptian Tennis Federation, nor is he included in any official list of our players.

“Based on the information we have, the player used to live in Kenya and participated in the ITF tournament in Nairobi through a wildcard provided by the Kenyan Tennis Federation.

“The Egyptian Tennis Federation does not have any role, either directly or indirectly, in the nomination, approval, or issuance of this wildcard, and we are not involved in the player’s entry into the tournament in any capacity.”

The organization said it had no records related to Abdelkader, and said he had never been affiliated with the Egyptian Tennis Federation.
