Gwyneth Paltrow clarifies that she is not using her Oscar as a doormat


Gwyneth Paltrow is setting the record straight on whether he uses his Oscar as a doorstop.

“That was only for a fool Vogue video,” Paltrow, 53, said recently Weekly entertainmentPodcast “The award-winning”. “They say, ‘Wouldn’t it be fun to use your Oscar as a stand-in?’ And then, of course, as you know (he became a legend).

In 2023, Paltrow made headlines when she filmed a Vogue 73 questions interview and opened a door to his garden with the award.

“What a beautiful Academy Award,” interviewer Joe knew she said in the video, while Paltrow replied, “My doorstop. It works perfectly!”

In reality, however, Paltrow shared on the podcast that she keeps the award on a bookshelf “hidden behind a door,” but recently moved it to “a bookshelf with other things.”

“I think I did, I don’t know … I think I had some healing to do, as far as how I put up with that and everything that happened and happened after that,” she said. “It was a lot to metabolize. And so it took me, I guess 25 years, to say, ‘OK, I’m ready to put it on the shelf.'”

Paltrow explained that it took years before she could see herself in the film, until a pivotal moment with her husband. Brad Falchuk. (Paltrow and Falchuk tied the knot in 2018.)

“It’s funny because my husband was watching it maybe six months ago on TV. It was just on, and I went in and said … I was always like, ‘Oh my God, change it,'” she recalled, before reflecting, “He was so young and he looked so different.”

He continued, “It was the first time I got to see it in a long time. I didn’t see the whole movie, but I saw a couple of scenes and I was like, ‘You know what? This stands the test of time. I’m very proud of my work. I’m very proud of this film. It’s a perfect script… I don’t know. It was a nice moment.'”

Now, Paltrow is the star Martí Suprem – she first major acting role in years after her signed in the filmPaltrow admitted she was nervous.

“I said yes, and then I was like, ‘Oh shit, do I remember how to do this?’ It had been seven years,” he recalled in an interview with December 2025 The Hollywood Reporter. “But I didn’t get the bug until I was on set doing the hair and makeup test. That’s when I was like, ‘Oh, what’s this weird feeling I’m getting?’ Oh my god, this is exciting. I’m actually really excited to be here.”
