Kate Walsh back to Grey’s Anatomy as Addison to release a shocking revelation about their marriage.
During the Thursday, January 29 episode of the hit ABC series, Addison paid Amelia a visit (Caterina Scorsone), who was still on sabbatical from Gray Sloan Memorial Hospital. The two doctors helped to help a pregnant patient suffering from a tumor that affected her vision.
In an effort to get Amelia rub againAddison revealed that her marriage to husband Jake (Benjamin Bratt) could have ended. Addison refused to share more details about her problems, but Amelia finally talked her into opening up. Addison said that Jake was forcing her to choose between her marriage and her career, and she chose the latter.
Addison and Amelia talked about their options before realizing that the relationship probably couldn’t be saved. They ended the episode bonding at Amelia’s apartment, but it remains to be seen what Addison will do with her personal life.

Walsh, 58, made her Grey’s Anatomy debut in 2005 before Addison got her own spin-off, Private Practice, which aired from 2007 to 2013. She’s far from the only fan favorite member will return a Grey’s Anatomy after a prolonged departure.
Earlier this season, Jesse Williams reprized the role of Jackson after his departure in 2021. He previously praised the writers’ room for allowing him to have a say in how his character would end his time in Grey’s Anatomy.
“I’m very honored to have the opportunity to really form a story with our writers that honors the character and the characters around him, that world, and also has a connection to the real world,” he said. Grey’s Anatomy has faced many cast changes in season 22 alone. Scorsone’s character chose to take a sabbatical from the hospital while grieving the death of his colleague Monica (Natalie Morales). It was later reported that Scorsone’s break will last until the end of this year as a result of a cost-saving measure.
The medical drama is already reducing the minimum guarantees its veteran cast members 14 of the show’s 18 episodes per season. While some Grey’s Anatomy‘s regular stars will be missing for four episodes, Scorsone’s absence doubled.
Showrunner And Marines previously hinted that not all characters would be safe this season.
“But even in the last two seasons with what you’ve seen this year, we’ve had to whittle down the cast a little bit (due to industry-wide budget cuts) and everyone has very passionate feelings about their favorite characters,” Marinis told The Hollywood Reporter in May 2025. “But if we can upset the writers, we know we will if somebody’s not happy with the story. It’s supposed to upset and sadden people, so I’m sure there will be some arguments, but I was persuaded before I changed my mind.
