
Washington said it had intercepted two oil tankers linked to Venezuela in the Atlantic as part of President Trump’s efforts to control the movement of oil across the Americas, claiming the ships – Marinera and M Sofia – were part of a so-called shadow fleet used to ship sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran. Russia condemned the seizures as outright piracy, noting that one of the tankers was sailing under the Russian flag. Eliza Herbert reports.
