Gmail has problems with spam and misclassification

If your Gmail account doesn’t seem to be working today, you’re not alone.

At official status dashboard for Google Workspace suggested that the problem started around 5:00 a.m. Pacific on Saturday morning, with users experiencing “email misclassification in their inboxes and additional spam warnings.”

For me, that means my Primary inbox is filled with messages that normally appear in my Promotions, Social, or Updates inboxes, and spam warnings appear on emails from known senders.

Other users have complained on social media “all spam goes straight to inbox” and the Gmail filter appears “sudden breakup.”

“We are actively working on the issue,” Google said. “As always, we encourage users to follow standard best practices when engaging with messages from unknown senders.”

TechCrunch has reached out to Google for additional comment.
